Fergie confirms Moura talks United want Brazilian Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Manchester United are in talks to sign Brazil international Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo. The likes of  Real Madrid  and  Inter Milan  have been linked with the 19-year-old midfielder, but United have moved into pole position in recent weeks. Reports have claimed a deal worth around £26million had been agreed, but Ferguson insists this is not the case. But for the first time he has confirmed he wants to sign the youngster, who has 11 caps for Brazil to his name. "We haven't reached an agreement," said Ferguson from China, where United are on the latest leg of their pre-season tour. "We've shown interest. Until such time we reach an agreement we can't say he's ours." Working hard Ferguson, who is also bidding for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie and admitted to wanting another left-back earlier this month, says they are working hard behind the s...

Now we'll see if we've been hoodwinked as sprint final beckons. If Usain Bolt has something sensational to bring to these London Olympics, then he has yet to offer a clue.    A casual canter through the Stratford afternoon gave no indication of his fitness for the task of successfully defending his 100metres title. He insists that he is ready to go to work, and his entry into the Olympic Arena was bashfully discreet; his tracksuit hood pulled over his head, as if the ploy might somehow disguise his identity. His cover was quickly blown by the sensitive stadium announcer. 'Loosen up your larynxes!' he bawled. 'For the fastest man in history!' Bolt rubbed his head with both hands in that distinctive way he has.  He exchanged a quick chuckle with one of the volunteers.  Then he loped down the track with unrevealing economy of effort in 10.09sec, a time which would qualify...

FORMER  SPURS BOSS REDKNAPP   REVEAL  LEVY'S   REAL DEAL  WITH MADRID  Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has warned Spurs fans to brace themselves for the departure of Luka Modric. The Croatia playmaker has been the subject of transfer speculation for the second consecutive summer and looks likely to leave White Hart Lane, with Real Madrid his likeliest destination. Chelsea's interest was rebuffed before last season and Modric went on to play a starring role for Spurs under Redknapp's management. But the latter warned that the 26-year-old's excellence came at a price, with a promise to clear the way for a move away this year. Real assistant coach Aitor Karanka recently praised the player in the Spanish press and Redknapp has told the  Sun : 'I would not be sure Luka would start the season at Tottenham. 'The club would be happy to sell if they get the right money. The chairman (Daniel Levy) said to him last year "Give us one more se...

United close on Lucas deal Ferguson stays behind to oversee deal for Brazilian starlet United have been chasing the Sao Paulo winger all summer and have already seen one bid rejected for the 19-year-old. The likes of  Inter Milan,  Paris Saint Germain and  Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in Moura, but it appears United are in pole position to land the highly-rated starlet. A fee is believed to have been agreed between United and Sao Paulo and the  Old Trafford  outfit have been given the green light to hold talks with the player. Sir Alex Ferguson  remained behind from United's pre-season trip to Norway for Sunday's friendly with Valerenga with the reason for his absence thought to be to push through a deal for Moura. Should United clinch the signing it would be a massive boost for Ferguson as the wide-man is regarded as one of the brightest young talents to emerge from Brazil in recent years. Moura is currently on Oly...
